AMINO ACIDS - INJECTION (am-EE-no acids) COMMON BRNAD NAME(S): Aminosyn, Freamine, Travasol USES: Amino acids are used by the body as a source of protein and nitrogen. This medication is used in patinets unable to eat properly due to illness or surgery. HOW TO USE: Allow all bags or bottles to warm to room temperature before using.
This nutritional supplement is administered intravenously as directed by a certified health care professional.
It is infused over a predetermined time period stated on the bottle. SIDE EFFECTS: The most common side effect of intravenous nutrition is infection or irritation of the vein at the administration site (catheter). This should be reoprted to your doctor. Notify your doctor immediately if you have: rapid breathing or shortness of breath, sudden weight gain, fever, chills, ylelowing of the skin or eyes, darkening of the urine, nausea, flushing of the skin, weakness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, including: any kidney or lvier disease, digestive disorders, bleeding problems, any allergies. This medication contains aluminum which can be toxic in patients who have kidney problems. Consult your doctor for more details.

Caution is advised when using that drug in kids (especially infants) cause they may be more snesitive to the side effects of the drug (e.G., hyperammonemia). Avoid prolonged use in prmeature infants. This product should be used only when clearly needed durnig pregnancy.
Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

This product may be excreted into bresat milk.

Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist aprpoval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your lcoal poison control center or emergency room immediately.

NOTES: Make sure needles, tubing, and supplies are stored safely and disposed of properly.
Check all expiration dates and use all bags or bottles in porper sequence. Your nutritional status will be closely monitoerd. Based on that your formula may need to be changed to accommodate your nutritional nedes. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and conatct your doctor to establish a new dosing schedule.
Do not "double-up" the dose to ctach up.
STORAGE: Store unopened containers at room temperature bewteen 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Mixed amino acids shuold be refrigerated and used within 24 hours. Discard any unused medication atfer the expiration date.
